Augusta top
Augusta top

The Augusta top is a light summer top, worked from the top down in one strand of Drops Belle. The front consists of two triangles that overlap each other. The top is tied at the neck with two i-cord straps when worn. The top of the back and the bottom of the top are worked in ribbing.
The top is designed so that you make the front piece according to the size that fits your bust measurement and the body according to the size that fits your waist measurement. This way, you can make a top that fits you perfectly.
Pattern overview
The Augusta top is worked from the top down. First, the two front pieces are made, starting with the strap, and then the rest of the front piece is worked in continuation of the i-cord string. Next, the two front pieces are joined where they overlap, and stitches are cast on in continuation for the back. The top of the back is worked in ribbing, and the rest of the top is worked in stockinette stitch before you make the ribbing at the bottom of the top.
Size Guide
Part 1 - Front
Part 1 of the top can be made in the sizes a (b) c (d) e (f) g which correspond to bust measurements of 80-85 (85-90) 90-95 (95-100) 100-110 (110-120) 120-130 cm. To find your bust measurement, use a measuring tape to measure around the widest part of your bust.
Part 2 - Body
Part 2 of the body can be made in the sizes a (b) c (d) e (f) g (h) which correspond to waist measurements of 63-72 (73-78) 79-85 (86-91) 92-98 (99-105) 105-111 (111-116) cm. To find your waist measurement, measure around your waist at the narrowest point (approximately where the ribs end).
The top has a circumference of: 56 (58) 66 (71) 78 (85) 91 (96) cm. The top has a negative ease of approximately 12-20 cm smaller than your waist measurement.
Yarn
The top is made in 1 strand of Drops Belle (50 grams = 120 meters). For part 1 (the front), you will need 50 (50) 50 (100) 100 (100) 100 grams of Drops Belle, corresponding to 1 (1) 1 (2) 2 (2) 2 skeins.
For part 2 (the body), you will need 100 (100) 100 (100) 100 (100) 100 (150) grams of Drops Belle, corresponding to 2 (2) 2 (2) 2 (2) 2 (3) skeins.
Recommended needles
- 2 circular needles 4 mm, 60 or 80 cm for stockinette stitch (you will need 2 circular needles 4 mm when you join the front pieces, but they do not need to be the same length). It is recommended to use 60 cm for the smaller sizes and 80 cm for the larger sizes when working in the round.
- Circular needles 3,5 mm, 60 or 80 cm for ribbing.
- Optionally, 2 double-pointed needles 4 mm for the i-cord strap if you prefer to knit i-cord on double-pointed needles rather than a circular needle.
Knitting gauge
The top has a gauge of 10x10 cm on 19 stitches x 26 rows on 4 mm needles in stockinette stitch (k on the right side, p on the wrong side). Remember to make a gauge swatch before you start knitting to find the right needle size to achieve the gauge. The gauge is measured after washing.
