Thea sweater

Thea sweater is a cozy and oversized sweater. It is worked top down on 10 mm needles with stribes in 2 strands of Drops Melody. The sweater has wide sleeves and are casted off with an I-cord edge. The sweater has ribbed edges at the bottom of the sweater and at the neckline.

Pattern overview

The back piece is made first. Then, stitches are picked up for the shoulders. These are worked separately before they are connected and worked back and forth. Afterwards, the front piece and the back piece are connected and the rest of the body is worked in the round and finished with ribbing at the bottom of the sweater. Then, stitches are picked up for the sleeves. They are worked in the round with decreases and finished with an I-cord edge. Lastly, ribbing is added to the neckline.

Size guide

Thea sweater can be made in sizes a (b) c (d) e (f) which correspond to bust measurements of 75-80 (80-85) 85-90 (90-95) 95-100 (100-110) cm.

The sweater has a positive ease of approximately 20-25 cm larger than your bust measurement and gradually decreases as the size increases.

Yarn 

The Thea sweater is made in 2 strands of Drops Melody (50 g = 140 m) in 2 colors. 

The Thea sweater in the picture is made in Drops Melody color 01 Nature (color a) and Drops Melody color 05 Black (color b).

For the sizes a (b) c (d) e (f) you will need:

Color a: 150 (150) 150 (200) 200 (250) grams of Drops Melody, corresponding to 3 (3) 3 (4) 4 (5) skeins.

Color b: 200 (200) 200 (250) 300 (300) grams of Drops Melody, corresponding to 4 (4) 4 (5) 6 (6) skeins.

As two strands of yarn are used, it may be helpful to have an even number of skeins in each color so that you can knit with two skeins at once. You may therefore want to buy an extra skein if you need an odd number of skeins of one color.

Recommended needles

Circular needles 10 mm, 40 and 80 cm for stockinette stitch

Circular needles 9 mm, 40 and 80 cm for ribbing

Circular needles 8 mm, 60 cm for ribbing at the neckline

Knitting gauge

The Thea sweater has a gauge of 10x10 cm on 9 sts x 12 r on 10 mm needles in stockinette stitch before washing.

Washing Instructions

If you make the sweater with the original yarn, be aware that it changes texture after washing. Therefore, wash a swatch in the yarn before washing your sweater, so you can see whether you like the look the yarn takes on after washing. The given gauge is measured before washing.
