The Violavest is a light, open vest made in 1 strand of Drops Flora and 1 strand of Drops Kid-silk. The vest is made in a double broken rib stitch with beautiful increases and a twisted rib edge by the arms as well as along the front.
Pattern overview
The vest is made from the top down. You’ll start out by creating the back piece after which you’ll pick up stitches for the shoulders. They’re worked separately. Then, you’ll be connecting the back piece and the two front pieces and work the rest of the vest back and forth. In the bottom of the vest you’ll add a twisted rib edge like the ones you’ll be adding to the arms and the front. On the button band you’ll make 4 button holes.
Size guide
This vest can be made in the sizes A (B) C (D) E which corresponds to a bust measurement of 80-90 (90-102) 102-115 (115-127) 127-132 cm. To find your bust measurement, use a measuring tape to measure around the widest part of your bust. If your chest area isn’t the largest part of your upper body, measure the widest part of your upper body instead and use that as your “bust” measurement. The vest has a positive ease (extra space) of approximately 0-18 cm larger than your bust measurement.

Recommended needles
3,5 mm needle 80 cm (optionally also a 60 cm one) for the double broken rib stitch
3 mm needle 60, 80 and, 100 or 120 cm for the twisted ribbing
Knitting gauge
The vest has a gauge of 10x10 cm on 19 st x 32 rows on a 3,5 mm needle in a double broken rib stitch (k on the front side and k 2, p 2 on the back side) In order to find the right needle size for you to get the right knitting gauge, please remember to make a gauge swatch before you start making your vest. Remember to also wash and block your swatch before you measure your gauge, as the double broken rib stitch widens after a wash.
